What you should know about wedding dresses

Your wedding day will be one of the most special days of your life and one of the many memories you will have from that day is the bride’s wedding dress. Great care would have been taken to make sure your dress was perfect for the day. After the wedding day is over and you are back to normal life your wedding dress should once again be given the care that it needs to preserve the garment for the future.

  • Some people may keep their wedding dresses, sell them, or cut them down to be used as an after five but whatever you decide to do with the dress it should be professionally dry-cleaned. Quite often your dress on the day will be dragged across different surfaces for photo shoots on grass, timber flooring, cement, or bitumen surfaces, and on top of that, there may also be food or drink spillages.

  • The longer you leave your dress to be dry-cleaned the more difficult it becomes to clean and the cost will be higher this is why it is important to get your dress to the cleaners as soon as possible.

  • Cleaning wedding dresses is a long and tedious process that can involve hours of cleaning and pressing, the first part of the process is to try and remove all grime from the bottom and any other stains that may be on the dress and this alone can take many hours of work.

  • After the spot-cleaning process, the dress will be dry-cleaned in a dry-cleaning machine on its own without any other garments once this cycle has finished the dry cleaner will inspect the dress for any remaining marks and if he thinks he can remove any remaining stains quite often this procedure is repeated in order to return the dress to the customer as clean as possible.

  • when the dry cleaner is satisfied with the cleaning process it is then passed on to a presser for pressing and depending on the layers and delicate fabric this also can take a long time to complete.

  • wedding dresses are not cheap to have cleaned as they will go through a much more intensive process than most other garments and the more stains and layers they have the higher the cost.
